Berries are a great source of fiber, vitamins and minerals and are reputedly anti inflammatory. Wild ones are very suited to a low carb diet as they have the added advantage that they have not been cultivated to be extra sweet like many shop bought fruits have been.
Wild blackberries are usually at their best in Ireland towards the end of August. This year is no exception due to the sunny weather we have had over the past few weeks which has helped with their ripening.
Exceptional with a big dollop of cream so if you have a spare 20 minutes get out there!
